so i'm almost done with the red-hair drawing. this is something sort of new for me, im drawing this straight from the wacom. and i also happen not to have reference pics, which i DONT like all that much. im always afraid stuff will look funny. and im super more inspired working from references usually.

im just debating if i want to draw the 3/4 sleeve on the girl's left arm or not....

this drawing reminds me a lot of my friend audrey, who has a cutesy boston like that. i actually am babysitting Stella as im writing this, and she something of a constant inspiration (and disturbance...) Audrey does have a tattoo down that arm, so i'm just not sure if i want to go there.....i dont know if i want the drawing to have that much tattoo in it. not that i dont like tattoos... anyways.

i dont know why but as i was coloring it, i kept thinking about the Venus de Milo. and it also makes me think of that awsome montreal modern version of it my boyfriend did for some concept sketch.

im also thinking of finishing one of those two Avy portraits i was working on last summer. i still like those ideas, i just never got to put the time into it. let me know which one i should go for first??

julyyyy..lyyyy.llyyyhhh....

as july actually is almost at its end....i realise this summer is going by quick....
i dont mind, my favorite season is comming, with all its amazing pleasures...

im posting, just because im all exited that i have some ideas in mind to draw...i havent drawn for myself recently, wanting to run away from my wacom in leasure times...and my sewing machine takes all the place that i could do traditionnal stuff on, on my drawing table.
this table is so, so long (8 feet wide) and still i always manage to have it full with stuffffff. when i think that genevieve and i used to share it..pretty confortably too...i dont know. things mutate..

anyways. a little something i had in mind, trying to finish this one, i swear.
and an inspiring picture from a naval museum.

Subway rides are taking for EVER lately.
the train goes at the speed of a vespa. or less. and we also spend minutes stoped between stations...anyone who has taken express subway trains in new york knows what im talking about.
i have been trying to make the most of those lost hours by designing things in my head.

so here goes a make up artist job for corp de ballet dancers for swan lake.
or maybe a prima ballerina. i dont know.

this is done pretty quickly, straight from wacom. (this might be the start of a new era for me.)

This is the fruit of the week ends work. Its rainy and it makes me mad.
now i can move on to something else... i have a lot on my plate, as ralbert would say. but its good. i feel pretty warmed up since i keep so busy drawing-wise. (my wirst hurts a little, but im trying to apply this thing my mom gave me, arnica ointment. seems to work.)

i have been playing around with colour pensils too. and being inspired tones by the movie marie-antoinette for my final projects' colour palettes. im also working on watercolours for the final show. ill put all up later.

Hey,
im alive again.
i have such a weight off my shoulders now that my crazy collages are sort of done... (18"x24" collages about fashion models and dogs...yes....) anyways, ill show it tomorrow and hopefully it will pass smoothy. i am a little more happy with the result then i thought i would be, considering how painful the process is. i seriously do not enjoy that medium. and i guess i needed to try it to know that. just putting some stuff to embelish and smell rubber ciment is fine, but doing a hole piece with only ONLY paper cut outs and no actual drawing or painting...serious pain in the pumkin.

but...
this being tossed aside now ill be able to re-focus on everything else that i need to be working on these days.

SO, this is something ive been working on for a couple of weeks. i know it doesnt seem all that exiting or impressive, BUT THIS WAS NASTYER THEN IT SEEMS. making an actual "repeat" pattern work by hand, the old style way, is really harder then i thought it would. once again, this is sort of a painful process. but more fun, more in the puzzle-pain sens.
actually, my repeat wasnt really tight, once i scanned it in, i have to patch up at a couple, tones of places to make it work properly, i guess this isnt suppose to be...haha. but OK, this is my very first shot at this. and i intend to get better.

this is a wraping paper. so the roll is 18" long. (height) and my pattern is a 9"x9" repeat. its gouache and it had to be a floral.
(im sort of working on something more fun on the side, with the same technique)

as for the men, this is some watercolours and what not that i did, 8am on wednesday, freshly out of the bus from montreal. :)
i need to come up with a concept for a watercolour portfolio, and i've been thinking and researching about a 50's theme. my teacher suggested i do only menswear and men in general. i dont hate the idea, it would be original i think. (and a first for
me!) so i dont know what ill do. but i need to make my mind soonish.

##enjoy spring##

more flowers. tweeked pretty much done.

printproof at staples like right now.

got to create a cereal box for cartooning class. having a lot of fun writing the bio for this little guy. :)

Toasti is a toast man from Paris, France. He was born in 1923 from a bread father and a half-milk, half-egg mother. His ancestors also inculde cinnamon and brown sugar. He moved to the core of the city-of-lights as an adult and lived in the 6th rounding, experimenting the exciting life of city toast man. Toasti always had a passion for breakfast delicassies that came from his mother. After completing his culinary studies at the Academie de la Patisserie Francaise, Toasti came to New York to open his own bakery. He had a strong desire of sharing the delights of real french “pain perdu” with his fellow american breakfast lovers.

He opened “Toasti from Paris”, a french patisserie, in the core of trendy soho, in the mid 1960s. His shop became famous overnight and numbers of celebrity and cuisine chefs were seen munching on his regal french toast, buns, croissants, amandines, enjoying a cup of strong, french, espresso. Notably, Andy Warhol, Audrey Hepburn, Yves St-Laurent, Catherine Deneuve, Karl Lagerfel, Robert Deniro, and much more.

In the bloom of his carreer, he shares with us one of his precious receipe, French Toast Crunches. In a convivial colaboration of great fine cuisine minds, we elaborated those gourmet cereals, just for you. You can now savour the richness of french butter and sweet brown sugar coated french pain perdu, in every crunchy bite.

it seams to be emerging as a fact that tulips are one of my favorite flowers.
i am drawing them for two different projects RIGHT NOW and did not even think about it.

this is almost done. i have a critique tomorrow at 8am...and we shall see how much i need to work on. if it was only me, id fine tune the edges and details a little, and be pretty much done. (this is going to be 18"x22"....yes, people across the street like it big. (that's an inside one. )

anyways, im working on this floral wrapping paper, with stylised "night queen" tulips, and im pretty stocked about it. trying to get something to work as a repeat is sort of like a puzzle. sort of fun and sort of a pain in the bum. i still got to transfer it to nice fabriano, and make some colour/render studies before my class on thursday night.

its exiting to be working on springy stuff during spring. the weather is pretty delightful here lately (crossing toes so that i dont jinx it...)

OH AND JUST SO YOU KNOW: i traced the logo myself with the pen tool in photoshop....that means a lot to me.

sketchbook, sketchbook on the wall, who in this land is the fairest of all?

some scans of recent sketches.
inspired by the designer rudi gernreich lately. maybe cause i am one of the 4 people who arent working on that subject, then it does inspire...i am happy with the decision of working on one of the season covers.
ill finish the colour soon and post it then.
working on a christmas book lately. im already looking foward to chirstmas....this is how silly-muffin i am with holiday season..

Had to do colour samples for a client. to show how id come up with colour images in less time.
so this is what i cam up with, and i really love those little images..felt like sharing the love.

i also happen to really like those men watercolour i did yesterday morning. i totally drew my lover instead of the model. and the teacher was all like "why you making his jeans so skinny??" anyways i was way more inspired and they might end up in that so-called portfolio.

Happy valentine's day everyone. xxxx

HELP. ADVICE NEEDED.

Paule T.B.4 Comments
Just a quick poll, i have this assignment about making an imaginary "absolute magazine" cover, that would be for the spring issue. i feel pretty inspired with this. first i feel like its very much in my cords. and also, the weather is soooo springy lately here. so warm and nice. i wasnt all stoked on getting spring at first. but i think its also nice to work out another season then fall.
i took pictures today and im trying to decide on what compostion/idea i like the best. im really torn between all of them. though the one without the face isnt as cute as i thought it would be.

but id like to know if there's anyone of these that stands out a lot. it would help guide me. this is for next week so i got to get on it soon.

thanks a lot from the bottom of my heart!

n'importe quoi.

Paule T.B.5 Comments
Bonjour,

this is a little quick post about quite everything and anything going on sort of.
i defenetly feel a little all over the place this week and this post probably shows very well how.

- it is that very nice time of the year, catbury mini eggs.
i also put a sheet of paper on my wacom to make it less sensative, according to a friend (http://mininisketch.blogspot.com/) who has sadly had to go through tendenitis, twice, it helps having to press less hard. (im trying that). i might also have to look into a bigger one, (to try and draw with my whole arm instead of my wrist...) as you guessed by now, my wrist hurts...bobo. this has been something that comes and goes, but since this is particularly busy times, i am a little more afraid.

-ok, so first off, this is an anatomy drawing from this week. 3x20mins.
-some thumbnails for a school project, a cover for the absolute magazine, a spring cover.
-the girl i wanna use for the actually cover, and my dear dear albert.

then, some stuff from other classes,
-expressions (classmate christopher as my model)
-a little doodle of something that im itching to ink on myself. inspired from the awsome purse i got for christmas.
-an a relief sculpture project, a sort of spanish lady profile, penelope cruz as a reference, the rest is sort of a realistic take on the traditionnal tattoos of spanish lady profiles.
- and also my very first greeting card project!!!!!!! a replica of simple card, i took this one because it made me think of my friend genevive... <3

and finaly just some little gossip on my body holes. i think im going to re-strech my ear. ive been wearing heavy earrings and its working out pretty well. i am also thinking of getting a new piercing. just because, i need a little change in my face. i dont know what, so im sort of open to suggestions. im thinking of maybe getting on both ears a little ring where that cute beauty mark is. on the very top.
and lastly, my "house mate" hubie, just came back from bali. and she brought me this real nice silk scarf with java prints on it. i loooorvessss it.

sketchbook.

*not finished*

Some doodles i did during a comicbook art class. first class are always a little soporific... i am exited about that class though.
i decided to maybe colour that concept sketch from an old alice in wonderland project.(not that old...) picked colours from a painting i liked at the moma. (forgot by whome...ooops.)
im on track now, back to the gym to swim 3 times a week...we'll see how that goes. and carbs are the enemy, AGAIN.

mixted feelings.

Paule T.B.4 Comments

this is one i did last week while still in montreal. i do not want it to be in my lactose serie, i dont know if i like it or not. it was suppose to represent having coffee at a friend's house. but the coffee feeling isnt very dominating in the palette... I was a little disapointed when it was done. i think the colours arent very successfull, or coffeeish enough for me.
but whatever, i have a lot of other ideas in mind. that will have to wait a little for the rush to pass. school starting this week, a couple of other things at once, but ill get back to it. soon.

**for sale**

So this is a second painting, that was a tiny bit more painfull then the first one. I am having varnish issues, and i need to look into that for the next ones.
But my mind is pretty much made up on a «Lactose» serie. I myself, am a pretty big fan of all milk products and also lactose intolerant. so it is all very much love-hate between us. but still its inspiring me so far so ill push in that direction.

so here goes coffee ice cream, straight from the container. and before that was ice cream softie on the run.
as for the titles, its more in relation to that young pony club song that i love so much.

OH, and sorry for the crappy picture. the colours are a tiny bit more vibrant in real life. but i dont feel like scanning it. it would be in four pieces...16"x16"

this is the new year.

(i actually dont like that song fromn Peter, Bjorn and John, i always spip it to enjoy the rest of the album)

but it really is a new year.
HOURRAY FOR 2009!!!

I had a Fabriano Venezio sketch book for xmas from my friend Sam. And i couldnt help but start painting in this one instead of finishing the last pages of the last one. (i will probably go back to them, since those little kuc(*&?ers are plenty expensives.)
so this is some examples of my bran new motivation. I am fully cranked by my latest rush of illustrations and i am determined to achieve lots in the new year. So this is some little thumbnails for paintings i want to do. (they will be for sale. ) and also this pair of shoes from heaven that i have fallen in love with. (see on the last drawing too.) i dont know how much they cost. but i dont want to know. cause i probably cant afford them. (joel took the pic with his phone, its not showing just how splendid they are)

kisses. see you soon with those paintings.
