Here is a couple pages i really like from my sketch book. i am WAY to lazy to scan all the pages, but this is my favorites.
And those two little watercolours i did during my trip in Manzanilla. With my familly-in law. (that went very-very well, by the way.)

later note.

This isnt as much as i could update, im sorry. I have portfolios full of stuff i like that i did in class. but it would take so long to scan it. and just as long to take and edit pictures. So, into oblivion, school work.

I am just putting up those three funny things i did this week, when school got over. I had not really did stuff completely without a purpose in a while. and as usual portraits came up first.
The profile one is strongly inspired by Hiroshi Tanabe. (go look, so inspiring and poetic and impressively neat illustrator) but i still feel like its my take on it. Been wanting to do a little more collage. and im not done experimenting with that.

this is my final piece for the alice in wonderland project. this is pretty big so its a picture. acrylic, marker, and gouache and colour pensils on illustration board. I sort of struggled a little bit with it more then i thought. so prepped, almost too much maybe, i was. I wanted to give it to my friend audrey, who sort of looks like alice in wonderland as much as i look like snow white. but im not quite sure if im proud enough of it to make it a gift.

i have got all my print back from my class of printmaking. I am so thrilled with them.
The Florence etching came out a little soft or a little dark. i struggled big time on the inking process so its very very limited. i only have 5.
the lino cut with the 9 little portraits came out so fun. i experienced a lot with tones of different paper. with motifs, and patterns and textures, and also i printed dark on dark and lots of cool stuff. i have 28.
i did photo lithographie during the last class and enjoyed it quite a bit. but i sort of messed up and ruined it. but still. i might try to get to do that again.

ok. need to shower, and nap and then go catch a flight. and then 2 other ones. hopefully the snow will stay out of my way in the next 24 hours.

November is crisp so far. And im not about to complain. It feels good here. Im warm in anyways. The joys of included heating.
I spent all night designing that promo postcard cause i had received an invite sale thing by overnightprints...about free promo postcards...turns out i didnt read the small caracters. *as always* and i had to choose 4x6 instead of majestic format 5x7...and also the offert was on single side cards....so my cute verso wont be used. i still put my info on, but on the front. i have to admit that all those type classes are kind of coming handy sometimes...a whole new world of being picky at how much millimeters there is between each letters...
oh and these are the files with the bleed space and save tx space. so its a little loose on the borders.
and also a little upload of everything coming along. I have a lot of pretty gouaches done too. but they're too big to scan and im too lazy to take picures. (the real word is BUSY)
but still im planning on relying on them for chrismas gifts.

WORK in progress.

It is cold and colder everyday here. winter is at the door sooner this year. and its kind of exiting...even if i totally dislike snow. and especially the effect of snow and calcium or street salt on shoes and boots...
but still. crisp weather is always invigorating. better to be outside, better to be in.

lots of little things going on. lots of things started but not finished.
I had to come up with a make-up fabric pattern. (the little swatches with pink ink in the background.)
and im also really exited at the prospect of maybe being in the next artsik zine. this is the very very early first idea stage i have in mind, with the umberella. (my friend Iljee Moon on the picture.) its black and white with this shade of pantone blue. ode to new york winter that does not mean snow most of the time. i dont know if this will be mixed media, printmaking and photoshop. or just photoshop....i really cross my fingers ill get in.

and a type homework. to make a self portrait with type only. i wanted the hair to be made out of letters. but havent figured out how to do it with evil-illustrator yet. so im leaving it black for now until i work on it more. or find out which pathfinder..grrr.

and on another note..im going to montreal this week end for a wicked halloween party at my lover's house. and im bringing my dear new york friend albert with me...this is very exiting...

november is almost here.

Paule T.B.Comment

the weather is so confusing lately. its either warm and rainy or sunny and super cold, or grey and windy like hell loose...its so hard to pick the right appareil before leaving the house. to be sure you wont carry your tones of layers in your purse about to explode all day or that you wont catch pneumonia at night.
anyways...this is all signs that soon winter will be here for good. halloween will pass and the chilly weather will stay. i keep on seeing people in t shirts and i feel like they're trying to convince themself they're no stupidly cold....
i dont care, i like winter too.
and all seasons kind of get boring towards the end. im itching to hear some chrismas songs as soon as we're november 1rst normally. this will probably be even more à propos this year as i might celebrate xmas with my family during the thanks giving recess.

HA---AHA.... i finally resolved the mistery of the image loading with its colours inverted!!!! Blogger doesnt take CMYK files...or so not by me....

HAHHAHHAHAHHHAHHAHAHHHA....

October pink.

Paule T.B.3 Comments
Dont you think that everythings has a prettiest colour in the month of october? All is tinted in light peach and peony pink, blacks are more maroon and indigo...it is so pretty. it goes to fast every year.
But i like november a lot too. Cause it gest cold for real and it starts smelling joyfull chrismassy.

I havent been drawing so much, but i feel very inspired.
Today im squeezing in, two big homeworks and hopefully starting some personnal projects i have in head.
this is supposed to be a Florence scene, Probably along the Arno, at dusk. As people start touristing early or running to work at their boutique or gellateria. (everyone is long and lean in florence, and only women... since this is using a model session with that 6'2" pretty model...)
I am pretty pleased with the result. I like the look of it and i shall try use this trick in perso things. OUPS, I CANT SEAM TO SUCCEES UPLOADING THIS ONE. EITHER THE COLOURS GET INVERTED...OR IT DOESNT WORK. BOO. I MIGHT TRY ANOTHER DAY. MERDE.
I also scanned some bits of sketch book.

In other notes,
I just discovered. (actually when i toured my visiting friend Melanie in september) a very neat paper store in Soho, on Spring i think, Kate's Paperie. To die for. I also started a knitting blog. For those who are interested in reading me blablaing about yarn colours, cool patterns and stiches. pauleknitslove.blogspot.com. It is only started and no where near full yet.

enjoy fall. Its gonna be over so soon.

Vespa, revised.

Amazing Joel though that the heads looked kind of funny and were too big. actually lots of the drawing was kind of disproportionate..
i worked quickly on some of the sizes of things just to adjust it a little. hope it looks better.
(montreal little holidays are almost done, :( )

one day we will travel, a little.

Paule T.B.1 Comment

This is the «official first personnal illustration anywhere close to finished» since a long time.
I've been wanting to make a little something about traveling with Joel. my very inspiring lover. He, himself, did a really nice drawing of us traveling in tokyo on a motorcycle and i tough i should give this topic a go, since i am exited about going there one day too.
i dont know why my clororation is getting more and more mooshy. but im liking it. so ill keep on pushing the same way.
im in love with the colours and i seriously think they could make anyone else then me nauseous. but whatever this is something i did in the sake of shear pleasure. and it felt good.
i am exited about doing other ones now. in that same vein. hope it will happen. i always find myself with lots of ambitions and then letting go of projects. (drawings, exercising, eating or knitting-wise)

in therms of knitting. i though maybe it could be interesting, (firsto for myself, since im obsessed, secoundo for my mom cause she is a passionate knitter too. and thirso for other people on earth who knit, yeah there is some blogs about knitting out there. just not as funny or interesting as they could be sometimes.....) to introduce some of my little creations, procrastination or hobbie or whatever. right now im in the making of a Waldo sweather. go figure out for whome....
im also in a burnt orange pair of mits in alpaca, for a friend. (its a suprise, hopefully she doesnt check this blog. im pretty convinced no one reads it anyways....) i made myself red ones of the same yarn (leftover of a big sweather i made for Rose-à-petits-pois last may) but mine are too big, they fit joel's hands. they were meant to match my raspberry berry i just finished. with cables and seed stich. but i can predict that the orange ones are gonna be more of a success.
im contemplating starting my chrismas gifts. that might become birthday gifts if the semester becomes crazy. im glad for my friend's birthdays are mostly in march, which is a good delay for finishing a chrismas-meant sweather.

ok.
enough for now,
and for those interested, im spending a wonderful Rosh Ashannah week in Montreal so far. Bliss is the word to describe.
Please, if you dont already, go check out my amazingly talented boyfriend's blog space. He is one of my favorite topic to discuss at everytime of the day and night, and also occupies most of my toughts. so i think its normal i should link his blog since half this entry was directly or indirectly about him...
atomier-one.blogspot.com

How many pumpkin spice lattés can i have before halloween without exploding or changing into an actual pumpkin by the way...?? so far im around 6. I'll need to start working on my costume soon, Halloween is the type of thing that surprises everyone on the corner being next week all of a sudden..

thursday night la suite.

this is the rest, as mentionned. i dont know how to fit all my images in one message....and people who know me know im not what you could call a member of geek squad....so i guess ill keep on dividing my posts in two. (unless sam or caro just comments and tell me how to)
this is some of my doodles from model in my fashion drawing class. its pretty old style in therms of proportions. we also saw the HOW TO of the fashion face. and this is me trying once, and then doing whatever i want. i spent some minutes trying to draw girls smiling or laughing. i never did and i think its pretty hard.
also, a little picture of me being bored and a little lonely during the model breaks, it is my only class im taking by myself and i miss my friends sometimes. no one to be stupid with.

Thursday night.

This has been quite a week. but i am now packing and cleaning all my favorite clothes (basically just some essentials) to go cozy up at my boyfriend's appartment for the rosh ashannah (or the way you spell that right...) holiday. im bringing my sketch book. and lots of knitting stuff. ill lazy around and work a little on some perso and school project when he's at school animating rappers and being amazing.

I have more to upload for that message, so the rest is just some more of yesterday night's class. I feel like AT LAST and not too late i guess, im getting off that crust i felt on the drawing side. im getting more and more exited everytime i get to draw and thats a good thing.

that plate is awsome. and full of good things for me. its my first try at making home made shabu shabu. one of my favorite dish.

SHAPES.

Paule T.B.4 Comments

«straight straight SHAPES.» and «curves, and shapes, shapes. » «where's your big empty shape, where's Texas?» (i wish my friend Albert read this blog, but i doubt it. he would be laughing at the moment)

And ALSO...

This is some washes. done with Luma Dies. im enjoying this class even though its a little hard to come up with something personnal. a lot of fashion illustrator are getting some pretty awsome result with these inks. not me. but im working on it.
even though i dont think id feel safe enough to use it for professionnal work.
