anatomy and such,

Bonjour,
today has been kind of crazy and space so far. Im trying to keep busy and do something productive, like uploading school work on my blog, not to loose my mind.
I felt a little trapped out of home. The woman i rent my room from is in a re-painting frenzie and it was the whole appartment's job today. Including my room. I had to wake up super early to push my things in the middle of the room, and (bigger task) all of the things that dont belong to me also. Then i had to stay home all morning to «supervise» aka watch the painter. Her friend came over to take my place (doesnt she has anything else then homesitting to do?) she was a little rude to me, and made me even more eager to run away. I found myself in a bakery, without wireless, without my calling card, all the rest of the morning. I worked on a personnal project of a couple of lovers (guess who...) in some random city in something thats suppose to look like Japan. Its not done, but almost. i needed some extra corbis help with the vespa.

i ran to school to catch some conection to the outside world. took care of some email business. now i'm waiting for my friend Olivia, i'm suppose to teach her how to purl before our 3 oclock class. (less and less likely to happen as its already 10 to 3) so im uploading things.....

this is some things did in my Janis Salek class. and also Santry. Anatomy.

I miss my lover.

This is some other sketchbook scans.
i did these two very very small thumbnails for personnal projects, i think i might just work directly on these in photoshop. i cannot seem to re draw them without loosing the freshness. so be it.
i did the watercolour one with luma dies. i think its kind of ugly. but i know Joel will be happy to see it online. I am pretty proud of us and he knows it.
i really need to go buy good food. i have been putting off doing grocery cause i feel like its a lost of time and kind of sad to plan what you'll eat alone, or what will go bad in the fridge in two weeks. i've been living on the candies me and my friend albert bought friday night, and burgers from the Shake Shack in madisson square park. i feel really bad and i have no excuses. i sware ill be better from now on. i miss having a whole foods near me. i was getting used to how the place was and where everything is. its really sunny and i need to go out and take some sun. maybe my friends will let me go a little about being pale. (the fact that none of them is cocasian is kind of unfaire and makes it ridiculous for them to talk....but whatever).
i love fall more then the sun uv rays anyway. this is more my motivation.

Illustrator, or taking the beast.

This is my first real assignment with the Illustrator CS3 program...i need to draw three pears, one with a bite, in a bowl. The teacher has given us a pattern to follow, and this is the result with it. BUT, i sketched (nicer) more real looking pears and ill try to vectorise those instead. I know its more work but, HEY, thats the way you learn, right?
I also, during the second week, had to design a pattern. With an 1in by 1in square that you invert colors and repeat. it was pretty painfull. and for some reason i had to do the assignment three times cause im slow and incompetent. but i like the result and the teacher liked it too. He said it looked like a native american blanket. (oups, i took it off, the colours were all messed up. i cant really figure out how to move files around between photoshop, illustrator, indesign, and all, without corrupting them or know how to open and all.)

I know i havent really put up school work or any personnal things. (the second being totally unexistant, thats why). But i lost my camera charger, so it made it pretty hard to take pics of the school work ive been doing. which is also always 18"'x24" so pretty impossible to scan. (and carry in the E train)
anyways, i scanned the first pages of my John Jay assignment sketchbook. We dont really have any specific things to draw but be regular at it. i tried the «twig» trick of Janis Salek. We basically pick up a cute twig on the floor. (try, manhattan parks are broomed daily...) and you sharpen the tip as you like, then dip it in your Luma die to paint with it. pretty neat. i like the result and also the way its MUCH MORE easy and fun then the speedball pen. (calligraphy pen) you need to dip this thing like every second...and its really not smooth, it tends to break my paper a lot. so hurray for recycling the nature also.
the last one is the monograme i had to design for my typesetting class. its not a final version. and i'll have to re-work on it given a specific font i think. but i like this one quit a bit.

print making of.

Paule T.B.6 Comments
I am also taking (for extra credit again) a PRINTMAKING class. i am pretty much extremely exited about this class. and my expectations in therms of results are portfolio high. (this will probably mean that ill end up crying, covered in ink over industrial print machines, with shitty result, and also bleeding all over with curving tool cuts.)
but still. i had to prepare for our first linoleum cut tonight. i decided to divide my 12'x12' block in little stamps of people i love. if it turns out to look half as good as i think, ill frame it and put it somewhere to be less home sick in my room.
so this is the whole process. (i am so exited that i am going to document the whole whole thing in details, for prosperity)
from the first sketch, to doing my thing in markers, cs2, and then i though inverting the values might help figuring out what to curv or leave. since even starting to think over what is black is white, what isnt curved is what?? hurts my brain..
lets hope it goes smoothly when i actually get down to it.

:)

repeat after me: EXTRA CREDITS.

Ok. so due to the deragistration issue, i ended up having to make up for the classes that were now full, to be a full time still, and keep my student statue-aka my visa. so i took a fashion drawing class with a teacher i never had who also teaches at Parsons. (Jo Denarro) It is a begginner level class. but i can more or less do whatever i want. i see it as extra credit taking me out of the mess, and also extra model time. he seems to book Stephanie a lot. a 6'3 girl who is kind of hard to draw. so its good for me to work some more on my style and drawing is always good i guess.

repeat after me: BACK TO SCHOOL.

Paule T.B.Comment
So these are some of the things i did in John Jay's class. he is a funky teacher and demanding. i think his class will be the hardest and also the more benefiting. www.johnjayart.com/

Bonjour,

it has been a long time since i put up anything. i was actually pretty busy doing everything but doodleling. I moved back to the states, with the healthy amount of complication life (or I maybe) always brings on me.
So hear i am now since almost 2 weeks, back to new york. I now comute from the forest. which is a different but still enjoyable life style. i have lots of accomodations and all i need also around me. Nice fruit markets, bagel shops (these suck to be honnest though. my heart is in montreal in therms of bagels.) laundromate, post office, flowers, nails, barnes and nobles, name it, Forest Hills is actually a little like West Mount, around sherbrook and victoria.
So during the last week, i have had the pleasure of being deregistered from school without wanting to, then attending the classes i managed to put back on my schedule, and new ones i picked and am exited about, also commuting to the city and adapting to life with a dog and three cats, and a lady which i hope i can be friend with.

OK.

before the fall.

Today and yesterday it really smelled like autumn in the morning. which is such a good reason to wake up and have a nice day...i love fall. i could write about it for hours. it is by so far the nicest season for so so so many many incredible reasons to me...
but i wont get too deep in apple descriptions and such things.
this is my last couple of days in montreal. i am still working on my book. its almost done. i intend to finish three illustrations today. and make the fourth one dissapear by magic. i am drinking lots of coffee. and im exited a lot. i've been procrastinating lots as i always do when i'm supposed to be doing something intelligent. i'm almost done knitting a teal sweather for Eliska, a two years old little girl, i'll probably post pics next time i write. and maybe the little matching hat will be done too. knitting is so great and zen for the mind.

As much as im eager to see where i'll live in forest hills, and what my new classes are like, and who'S back to school and all that, i also am a lot nostalgic about leaving montreal. these two months here defenetly tightened my remaining frienships here and stared little new ones that i dont wanna loose leaving. as you can imagine i am also gonna miss terribly my lover. bombs of doodles of him will probably keep on attacking this blog this year.

anyways. this is the last two days of the summer for me. lots of photoshop today. and goodbyes tomorrow.
maybe skateboarding to saint-viateur bagels and having dinner at les folies. i also wanted to see the YSL exibit all summer and of course havent done it yet. i defenetly need to squeeze all the love i can out of my lover before i go to.

august is here.

august is here.
the bells of back to school are starting to ring in most people's ears....
as usual a this exact time of the year..i desperatly want the weather to get colder so that i can wear automn clothes..eat apples, see pretty coloured leaves...and smell the smell of my favorite season...
but no, i am going back to new york. wear fall did not exist last year and i am not expecting it this year either. i doubt global warming is gonna take a break for me to be happier in september and october...
hopefully my schedule and budget will allow me to visit lots in montreal. (that might suit my heart too, and a specific tall english gentleman's one also.)

i really want to go to the atwater marker again maybe today. but a feels like a storm might break at any moment since 3 hours so its probably risky.
i dont know why im being so talkative...its probably the result of spending most my days working in lately. and not really talking to anyone. still. the work is going better and thats a really good thing.

i am uploading some cute stuff i did mostly for distraction lately. some drawings of friends or roomates here. and also this little idea of a drawing of the living room, filled with people, cause it often is.

projets en cours.

Paule T.B.1 Comment

first sketches for my parents' living room paintings project. something really italian probably. street scene, a sky line with sparrows and a Jolly Bar café scene.
and funny doodles of a friend of Joel.

encore et fin.

Paule T.B.1 Comment

so there is the last batch of drawing from la europe...
some funny stuff. cute people with huge head proportions. i also am trying to colour the one with the girl passing in pen.
but it looks bad so far.
its hard colouring something drawn a long time ago. and also computer on something done by hand real quickly and without thinking.
ok. so one more thing done in my procrastination list. now i can either go back to knitting, or start learning a new language...im out of good book to read at the moment so that might be a good thing....

more and also pink sketchbook.

Paule T.B.2 Comments

i bought a really neat sketchbook and an artstore in florence. its not extreme quality paper, but its bright pink...which brings amazing funk to most everything you draw.
and the leather bond is cute and there is bee decorated paper and a tag to write your name in the first page....cute.
on a more serious not i also but the fabriano Venezia sketchbook. i saw it in soho before but its fucking great, the paper takes watercolor and gouache pretty well and also markers.

and more.

Paule T.B.Comment

some pen doodles. me fantisizing that im travelling with Joel. What is utterely funny is that you can actually see that we where totally drawing the same things each on our side of the ocean at the same time. dreaming of going to paris and rome on vespas and by foot....

these are two gouaches i did at the beach. i'm pretty satisfied with the style of these two with people in it.
its hard to sketch from life and keep a personnal style i realised over the trip.
like i said earlier, i really want and wish i would get more practice with friends. and i shall....

plus a little pastel (yack) from rachel and anna's window in the room 19 of the albergo Patrizia. and a red marker sketch from the terrasse of my hotel in Elba.

Florence Views

Paule T.B.Comment

Bonjour,
finaly got some courage together to scan some of my scketchbook from my month in florence. and locations.
this is some views of the city...i mostly worked with markers...i dont know, they are big and quite quick (i use the large end when i gost or sketch) i also happened to fall in love with a real talented mister who works the markers with magic, and i guess it rubbed on me or influenced me when i was away.
i defenetly enjoy the effect of it and it will stay i think.

i havent sketched nearly as much since i got back and its a real shame. im surrounded but stylish people here in montreal, lots of my friends are real inspirations and i wanted to draw them so bad....i really should get to it. i need to upgrade what i have as personnal style stuff (which is probably nothing at all at the moment)
i want to do some series. i also got a little command from my parents for their fire place top. i'll probably work on three or four small paintings about florence.

hi all, i am officially back from europe, and the jet lag. first day trying to get back to normal life/work. i only got about 15 color illustration ahead of me for late summerish...for the sequal of pierre et le pialeino. a little bit of pressure works well or so i say.
i am not even started with the project of scanning my drawings in all my messy sketch books from italy...but i will. im just posting some quick pictures before i figure out the organisation of the scanning, or uploading pictures on facebook.
these are some of florence and monterosso, a village on the coast in cinque terre. and also, the roof view, elba island (paradise).

last minute random.

lame school montages

Paule T.B.3 Comments

just stuff i like a lot. but way too busy/lazy/tired to make anything of this..exept multiply layers that take 5 seconds.
but still, ill end up throwing all away by next week so i want to keep some of this..even in lame montages....
most of it is either illegal doodles, or poses from the rizzo class that is a bit more free.
